How to install Claude Code on Mac in under one minute using the official native installer.

Claude Code is Anthropic’s AI coding assistant for Terminal. This tutorial follows the official setup process step by step: find the installer, open Terminal, complete the installation, verify the version and sign in.

WHAT YOU NEED

A Claude plan or Anthropic Console account with access to Claude Code
macOS 13 or later
An internet connection

INSTALLATION STEPS Visit the official Claude Code setup page:
https://code.claude.com/docs/en/setup Find “Install Claude Code” and copy the macOS installation command. Press Command and Space, type Terminal, then press Return. Paste the installation command into Terminal and press Return. Wait until Terminal confirms that Claude Code was installed successfully. The installer may not display a progress bar while downloading. If the installer displays a PATH note, copy and run the exact PATH command provided in Terminal. Close Terminal and open it again. Type “claude --version” and press Return. If a version number appears, Claude Code is installed. Type “claude” and press Return to launch it. Choose your preferred text style, select your Claude account and complete the browser sign-in.

TROUBLESHOOTING

If Terminal says “command not found: claude,” follow the PATH instructions shown by the installer. Close Terminal, open it again and retry the version check.
