How Agencies Can Gain the Cyber Edge with Smart Data Solutions

For the vast majority of US citizens, the front lines of conflict are witnessed from thousands of miles away on the nightly news. But for government agencies, these physical conflicts are the tip of the iceberg as cyberattacks persist as an underlying constant, inflicting enduring damage regardless of geopolitical tension or location.

Go Hybrid & Multi-Cloud or Don't Go

Over the past few months industry analysts have been making some pretty controversial recommendations for data management in the cloud. For a thoughtful and entertaining analysis, I strongly recommend you spend a few minutes watching the keynote session by Pat Moorhead, CEO Moor Insights & Strategy, at the Evolve 2022 Data event in New York. His takeaway: “The world is very much going to be hybrid and multi-cloud.” His delivery—priceless.

Introducing Cloudera DataFlow Designer: Self-service, No-Code Dataflow Design

Cloudera has been providing enterprise support for Apache NiFi since 2015, helping hundreds of organizations take control of their data movement pipelines on premises and in the public cloud. Working with these organizations has taught us a lot about the needs of developers and administrators when it comes to developing new dataflows and supporting them in mission-critical production environments.

You Can't Hit What You Can't See

Full-stack observability is a critical requirement for effective modern data platforms to deliver the agile, flexible, and cost-effective environment organizations are looking for. For analytic applications to properly leverage a hybrid, multi-cloud ecosystem to support modern data architectures, data observability has become even more important. I spoke to Mark Ramsey of Ramsey International (RI) to dive deeper into that last subject.

Transaction Support in Cloudera Operational Database (COD)

CDP Operational Database enables developers to quickly build future-proof applications that are architected to handle data evolution. It helps developers automate and simplify database management with capabilities like auto-scale, and is fully integrated with Cloudera Data Platform (CDP). For more information and to get started with COD, refer to Getting Started with Cloudera Data Platform Operational Database (COD).

Once Upon a Time in the Land of Data

I recently had the privilege of attending the CDAO event in Boston hosted by Corinium. Tracks represented financial services, insurance, retail and consumer packaged goods, and healthcare. Overall, it struck me that while data science is not new, most firms are still defining the mission of the data office and data officer. It’s clear firms seek to leverage data and embrace its potential insights, but most are forging ahead in largely uncharted territory.

Ozone Write Pipeline V2 with Ratis Streaming

Cloudera has been working on Apache Ozone, an open-source project to develop a highly scalable, highly available, strongly consistent distributed object store. Ozone is able to scale to billions of objects and hundreds petabytes of data. It enables cloud-native applications to store and process mass amounts of data in a hybrid multi-cloud environment and on premises.
