"Can I download the data to a spreadsheet?"
At Qlik, we have a saying that an angel loses its wings every time data is exported to a spreadsheet. Don’t be responsible for an angel losing its wings.

Catch-phrases like “data is the new oil” are popping up everywhere, and rightfully so. New year, and time for the annual trends webinar. It’s the third time I have the honor to present it. As always, it takes a village to create this, and I’m thankful for all the people who chipped in. I’d like to highlight in particular Murray Grigo McMahon. His blog on data as an ecosystem, as well as great discussions, was a big source of inspiration, and will feature in the trends. This year, the title of the webinar is “The Dawn of Postmodern Analytics”.

To compare, the average growth rate for all occupations is 7%.

Data is the lifeblood of AI. An AI system needs to learn from data, as well as from humans, in order to be able to fulfill its function. Unfortunately, organizations are already struggling to integrate data from multiple sources to create a single source of truth on their customers, products, or other data. AI will not solve these data issues, it will only make them more pronounced.

For me, I am battling for one of the last playoff spots in my league and I am holding my own in daily fantasy football – never quite playing the perfect combination of players.
