Every September, world leaders, business executives, investors, NGOs, and global citizens descend upon New York City to learn and discuss progress towards building a sustainable future for all. Although there was much excitement and energy surrounding the UN General Assembly and Climate Week this year, there was very sobering news that more must be done if we expect to achieve the goals set out by the UN 17 Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs) and Paris Climate Accords.

Have you heard the phrase “AI won't replace humans - but humans with AI will replace humans without AI”? I personally love this quote because it perfectly encapsulates the nature of the anticipated workforce shift from the rise of generative AI. As I wrote back in 2017, the power of AI is not about machines supplanting human abilities, but rather about a symbiotic relationship between humans and AI. I think the Star Trek analogy I used then is standing the test of time…

Although it might seem a little early, I was just thinking: what will 2023 be remembered for? For many it will be the year that Beyonce and Taylor Swift took to stages around the world and pushed the boundaries of live music (I’m a confirmed Swiftie if you didn’t know). It is also the year of AI. When I speak with customers, they all talk about how they are steering towards AI adoption.

One of my favorite analogies is that data is the lifeblood of the business. Before you roll your eyes at me (I see it now), hear me out. At your annual physical, when you get your blood work done, think of how much information is uncovered about your overall health from a tiny vial of your blood. From those 10 CCs they extract comes back pages of information regarding your cell counts, glucose, cholesterol, and other information.

With marketing analytics now influencing more than half (53%) of marketing decisions, there’s finally some good information around using data in marketing. In fact, Gartner found that when analytics influences less than 50% of decisions, organizations find it challenging to prove the value of their marketing.

In part one of this two part series, I reviewed the history of the chatbot, my 2003 patent, and the reasons why the conditions weren’t right for the type of chat experience we’re all now enjoying with ChatGPT. For part two, we get into what has changed and the different ways enterprises can drive modern chatbot experiences with ChatGPT.

There's no denying that OpenAI's remarkable artificial intelligence applications (ChatGPT and DALL-E) have captured the zeitgeist and hurled the topic of Generative AI into every company boardroom. Conversations range from apocalyptic hand-wringing to blissful ignorance. I wonder if ChatGPT will single-handedly save the chatbot industry, or is this just another tech fad that will quickly wither and die?

Is the generative AI honeymoon over already? After months of buzz around its transformative possibilities, excitement is now starting to be tampered by a growing concern on trust and data privacy. Just in the last few weeks, there have been several lawsuits launched against AI companies, including a well publicized charge of copyright infringement.

The Layout Container gives you new ways to create content and design dashboards in Qlik Analytics, our new layout container object. The layout container, part of the Qlik Analytics dashboard bundle, is a new object that enables free layout of charts, the ability to stack visualizations, combine charts into new visualizations, as well as multi-select and group objects for easier sizing, positioning and alignment.
  |  By Qlik
The layout container is useful when you want to build a custom display containing multiple charts as a single unit. Unlike the container, which uses tabs to cycle through charts, the layout container is a space where you are free to customize your own layout of the charts in the layout container. As the layout container offers sheet-like arrangement of visualizations, you can functionally store multiple sheets within a sheet that can be expanded for more detail.

An indexed line chart visually compares data over time with different starting values using a simplified expression. A good use for this is comparing stock prices, but is also good for product comparisons.

This week we have added new generative AI real-time connectors for Amazon Bedrock to Qlik Analytics, as well as new Amazon Bedrock connector blocks for App Automation.
  |  By Qlik
Amazon Bedrock is the name of the Amazon service that offers a single API to access foundation models provided by companies such as AI21, Amazon Titan, Anthropic and Cohere, from which you can build generative AI into your Qlik applications without writing any code. With generative AI, organizations can broaden insight and context while adding a variety of new and exciting capabilities directly in analytics apps, load scripts, and through app automations. The analytics connector constructs questions and our unique associative engine passes only relevant data related to those selections, in real-time, allowing users to get contextually relevant responses while minimizing cost and complexity. Automation connectors offer the ability for developers to send questions and receive responses and data sets as part of automation workflows.

Data has always held tremendous value. But for decades, most of that value has been left on the table. Complexity, technical limits, bottlenecks, and skill gaps have kept insights hidden and analytics out of the hands of business users. With the 3rd generation of BI, that's about to change.

Businesses everywhere understand a basic truth in today's economy: No enterprise can lead - or even survive - without analytics. But not all analytics platforms are created equal. Choosing the right one is essential to making discoveries that have the power to drive real change. But too often the evaluation is based on narrowly-focused criteria around just features and functions, limiting the impact analytics can bring to your organization.

Data-driven retailers are using visual analytics to address the 3 major shifts surrounding omni-channel retail. Three major shifts have shaken the very foundations of retail: Consumers are empowered and more demanding; supply chains must accommodate omni-channel shopping and services; and the role of stores goes far beyond converting show-roomers.

There continues to be an incredible amount of interest in the topic of Big Data. It has transcended from a trend to being simply part of the current IT lexicon. For some organizations, its use has already become an operational reality; providing unprecedented ability to store and analyze large volumes of disparate data that are critical to the organization's competitive success.

Every action a healthcare provider, payer, administrator, or patient takes creates new data. The challenge in healthcare is no longer finding data - but making it usable and actionable. This requires knowing what to do with the data you have, and understanding the relationships that exist within it.
