What an incredible week in Las Vegas for this year’s annual AWS re:Invent conference. The last time we were in-person for re:Invent pre-Covid, the show had grown to over 60,000 attendees. This year the energy and sheer volume of activity felt like we were right back there. The difference from 2019 in where the industry is, however, was readily on display throughout the week.

Well, that was interesting! I just finished the Show Floor Showdown for Business Intelligence at Gartner Data & Analytics Summit with team ThoughtSpot. (Reminder: ThoughtSpot was named a Visionary in Gartner’s 2022 Magic Quadrant™ for Analytics and BI Platforms.) For the setup, we were asked to play the roles of sustainability experts, government officials, and business leaders working to understand the impact of sustainability goals on economic, environmental, and social outcomes.
Going into Snowflake Summit 2022, I was excited to spend time with our customers and partners, and excited to be able to share some of the innovations we’ve been working on. And I was not disappointed! It felt great to experience the energy that only an in-person event can deliver. I relished talking to customers about how our products can help them meet and even surpass their business goals.
A few days ago, we were in Texas attending one of the most important events in the Javascript ecosystem. For the first time after these difficult times, we had the opportunity to meet again in person with the main contributors and actors of the Javascript ecosystem on a global scale. The appointment was at OpenJS World 2022. We were really happy to meet again with friends from the OS and NodeJS community, seeing them again was priceless.
It’s that time of year again. Conference season is upon us! And, for the first time in what feels like a lifetime, the data ecosystem is getting back together in person. It couldn’t come at a more important time. The decade of data is upon us, as we unveiled at our own customer conference Beyond 2022. The opportunity is greater than ever before. So, too, is the need to change.
