This past July 2 marked the end of my first year at Kong after joining with the acquisition of Insomnia – and quite a year it’s been. Prior to the acquisition, I was struggling to keep Insomnia’s momentum going as an indie. My time was spread thin, and I could no longer affect meaningful change.

Our 1.2.0.0 release of Cloudera Streaming Analytics Powered by Apache Flink brings a wide range of new functionality, including support for lineage and metadata tracking via Apache Atlas, support for connecting to Apache Kudu and the first iteration of the much-awaited FlinkSQL API. Flink’s SQL interface democratizes stream processing, as it caters to a much larger community than the currently widely used Java and Scala APIs focusing on the Data Engineering crowd.

I’m excited to share today that we announced the acquisition of RoxAI and its Ping intelligent alerting software at our 2020 sales kickoff. This is becoming an exciting annual tradition – last year we similarly announced from the SKO stage our intent to acquire Crunch Data, which has been rebranded as Insight Bot. Like that announcement, RoxAI and Ping will help increase the value of data through insights delivered to users where they work.
